The company owns and operates theme parks on Queensland's Gold Coast, Australia; and water parks in Hawaii, Phoenix, and Las Vegas. The company also produces and co-finances feature length commercial motion pictures for exhibition in international theatrical markets and for subsequent worldwide release in various international media, including home video, DVD, and pay and free television media. In addition, it distributes theatrical movies to cinema, pay television, and free-to-air television in Australia and New Zealand; and theatrical, television, and children's content for electronic sell-thru and transactional video-on-demand via iTunes, Foxtel, Telstra Bigpond, Google, YouTube, and other online platforms, as well as provides ultraviolet capability on theatrical and television releases across DVD, Blu-ray, and digital transactions. Further, Village Roadshow Limited operates approximately 580 cinemas at 59 sites in Australia and Singapore. The company was formerly known as De Laurentis Entertainment Limited and changed its name to Village Roadshow Limited in 1998. Village Roadshow Limited was founded in 1954 and is based in South Yarra, Australia.

Village Roadshow Limited announced consolidated earnings results for the first half ended December 31, 2013. For the six months, the company announced EBITDA of $81.5 million, operating cash flow of $45.2 million, capital expenditure of $115.0 million and free cash flow used of $69.8 million. Net debt at the end of the period was $346.6 million compared to $262.2 million for the same period a year ago. Profit before tax was $36.6 million and EBITDA was $81.5 million against profit before tax of $49.3 million and EBITDA of $89.5 million for the same period last year. Profit before tax excluding one-off costs was $46.6 million and EBITDA excluding one-off costs was $90.0 million. The company’s revenues were down 0.2% to $478.83 million from $480.01 million, basic earnings per share were 11.3 cents, down from 21.8 cents. The company’s net profit fell 46% to $18.08 million from $33.48 million for the first half last year. The result included $10 million in one-off costs mainly associated with the opening of its Wet'n'Wild water theme park in Sydney and a joint Gold Coast marketing campaign with fellow theme park operator Ardent Leisure Group. The company provided earnings guidance for the full year of fiscal 2014. The company announced for the full year 2014 results on track through the combination of timing of product releases (first half versus second half) together with trading results seen through January and start of February, the company is on track to meet full year net profit after tax before material items expectations slightly above prior year.
