The company operates through four segments: Passenger Cars, Commercial Vehicles, Power Engineering, and Financial Services. The Passenger Cars segment develops vehicles and engines; and produces and sells passenger cars and genuine parts. The Commercial Vehicles segment develops, produces, and sells light commercial vehicles, and trucks and buses, as well as offers parts and related services. The Power Engineering segment develops and produces large-bore diesel engines, turbo compressors, industrial turbines, and chemical reactor systems, as well as produces gear units, population components, and testing systems. The Financial Services segment offers dealer and customer financing, leasing, banking and insurance, fleet management, and mobility services. It also offers motorcycles. Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft provides its products under the Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Audi, ŠKODA, SEAT, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ducati, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Scania, and MAN brand names, as well as financial services under the Volkswagen Financial Services brand name. The company has strategic alliance with Daimler AG to produce Crafter. Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft is headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany.

Volkswagen Announces Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 2014; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Year 2014

Volkswagen announced earnings results for the quarter and sales results for the first half ended June 2014. For the quarter, the group's net profit surged 12.5% to EUR 3.2 billion. For the first half, the company sold 5.07 million units, up 5.6% compared to last year. Revenue was flat at EUR 99 billion. Operating profit improved to EUR 6.2 billion, benefiting from the continued rollout of new models, as well as positive mix effects. After considering the related taxes and financing plus other investments, the equity accounted result improved by 16% to EUR 2.1 billion. Group profit before tax of EUR 7.8 billion equaled a 7.9% return on sales. Rarnings per share improved by close to 13% to EUR 11.33 per ordinary share. Net cash flow came in at a clear positive of EUR 2.9 billion. The company expects 2014 sales revenue for the whole group and its business areas to move within a range of 3%, around the prior year figure. In terms of group operating profit, the company is expecting an operating return on sales of between 5.5% and 6.5%. And the same range also applies to the passenger cars business area.

Volkswagen AG Wins EUR 486,000 Police Cars Supply Deal in Berlin

The central service unit of Germany's Police Chief in Berlin, Der Polizeipraesident in Berlin, Zentrale Serviceeinheit, has awarded a contract, worth some EUR 486,000, to Volkswagen AG for the supply of seven specially equiped cars. The type of the tender procedure was not specified in the contract award notice with document number 254701-2014 published in the EU's Tenders Electronic Daily (TED). The award criteria was the lowest price.
