Voya Financial, Inc. operates as a retirement, investment, and insurance company in the United States. The company has five segments: Retirement, Annuities, Investment Management, Individual Life, and Employee Benefits. The Retirement segment offers tax-deferred employer-sponsored retirement savings plans and administrative services in corporate, education, healthcare, and government markets; and rollover individual retirement accounts and other retail financial products, as well as financial advisory services to individual customers. This segment sells its products to small companies, corporations, and government entities directly, as well as through third-party administrators, wirehouse affiliated brokers, registered investment advisors, independent sales agents, and consulting firms. The Annuities segment provides fixed and indexed annuities, tax-qualified mutual fund custodial products, and payout annuities for pre-retirement wealth accumulation and post retirement income management through independent marketing organizations, affiliated and independent broker-dealers, banks, independent insurance agents, and pension professionals. The Investment Management segment offers fixed income, equity, multi-asset, and alternative products and solutions to individual and institutional customers directly, as well as through consultant channel, banks, broker-dealers, and independent financial advisers. The Individual Life segment provides wealth protection and transfer opportunities through universal, variable, whole life, and term products. The Employee Benefits segment offers stop loss, group life, voluntary employee-paid, and disability products through brokers, consultants, and its direct sales team. The company was formerly known as ING U.S., Inc. and changed its name to Voya Financial, Inc. on April 7, 2014. The company was incorporated in 1999 and is headquartered in New York, New York. Voya Financial, Inc. is a former subsidiary of ING Insurance International B.V.

Voya Financial, Inc. reported consolidated earnings results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company after-tax operating earnings of $213 million, or $0.83 per diluted share, compared with $177 million, or $0.71 per diluted share in the second quarter of 2013. Net income available to common shareholders of $246 million, or $0.96 per diluted share, compared with a loss of $82 million, or $0.33 per diluted share in the second quarter of 2013. Ongoing Business operating earnings were $356 million, compared with $307 million in the second quarter of 2013. Ongoing Business adjusted operating earnings were $346 million, compared with $303 million in the second quarter of 2013. Book value per share (excluding AOCI) of $45.827. Total operating earnings before income taxes were $328 million, compared with $272 million in the second quarter of 2013.

Voya Financial Declares Third Quarter 2014 Common Stock Dividend Payable on September 30, 2014

Voya Financial, Inc. announced that its board of directors has declared a common stock dividend of $0.01 per share for the third quarter of 2014. The dividend is payable on September 30, 2014 to shareholders of record as of August 29, 2014.

Voya Financial Offers Insurance Customers Speed and Convenience

Voya Financial, Inc. has launched a faster and more convenient process for use with its Indexed Universal Life-Protector (IUL-Protector) product, which provides the death benefit protection of life insurance with the potential to build cash value that can be used for any purpose, such as supplemental retirement income. The new capability, which is being marketed as Orange Pass, allows certain customers to buy a life insurance policy without the inconvenience and time required to take and analyze bloodwork or medical exams. The combination of an expedited underwriting process and a shorter application can help shave weeks off the fulfillment process, with the potential for policies to be issued in as little as 5 business days. IUL-Protector policies ranging from $50,000 to $500,000 are available to applicants who are aged 50 or younger. Customers nearing or in retirement may appreciate the product's death benefit protection, as well as its ability to provide supplemental retirement income through policy loans and withdrawals. Customers at all stages of their retirement readiness planning may appreciate the potential for cash value accumulation. The Insurance Solutions business of Voya Financial, which plans to complete its rebranding from ING to Voya on September 1, 2014, comprises two segments. Individual Life offers life insurance protection and wealth transfer opportunities through indexed universal, universal, variable and term products; and Employee Benefits offers stop loss, group life, voluntary employee-paid and disability income products to large businesses covering 4.4 million individuals.
