Vishay Precision Group, Inc. Releases New Generation of Ultra-High-Precision Z-Foil Power Current Sensing Resistors With TCR of +/-0.2 ppm/degC, PCR of 4 ppm/W, and High Power to 10 W

Vishay Precision Group, Inc. announced that its Vishay Foil Resistors brand (VFR) has released new ultra-high-precision Z-Foil power current sensing resistors for applications where rapid R stabilization and resistance stability under transient power conditions are required. Designed to provide optimal performance when mounted on a chassis or cooled heat sink, the VCS331Z, VCS332Z, VFP4Z, and CSNG Series feature low TCR of +/-0.2 ppm/degC from -55degC to +125degC, +25degC ref., PCR (R due to self-heating) of 4 ppm/W typical, and tolerances to +/-0.01%. For high-power applications, the devices offer power ratings up to 10 W (on heatsink) and a four-terminal Kelvin configuration in order to remove the unwanted influence of lead resistance and lead sensitivity to temperature. The VCS331Z, VCS332Z, VFP4Z, and CSNG offer excellent load-life stability to +/-0.005% typical (50 ppm) at 3 W (heat sink) and +25degC for 2,000 hours, a thermal stabilization time of <1 s (within 10 ppm of steady state value), and a wide resistance range from 0.25 to 500. (Lower and higher values are also available.) Any resistance value within this range is available at any tolerance with no additional cost or lead time effect. The resistors offer a rise time of 1.0 ns with effectively no ringing, current noise of 0.010 uVrms/V of applied voltage (<-40 dB), and a voltage coefficient of <0.1 ppm/V. The devices withstand ESD to at least 25 kV for increased reliability, and they offer a non-inductive (<0.08 H), non-capacitive design.

Vishay Precision Group, Inc. Introduces New High-Speed 850 nm and 940 nm IR Emitters and Package-Matched High-Speed Silicon PIN Photodiode for Infrared Touch Panels

Vishay Precision Group, Inc. broadens its optoelectronics portfolio with the introduction of two new high-speed 850 nm and 940 nm infrared emitters and a package-matched high-speed silicon PIN photodiode with high radiant sensitivity from 780 nm to 1050 nm. The VSMG10850, VSMB10940, and VEMD10940F offer an ultra-wide +/- 75deg angle of half intensity in a compact side-view surface-mount package measuring 3 mm by 2 mm and a height of only 1 mm. Offered in clear, untinted plastic packages, the IR emitters released provide high radiant intensity of 1 mW/sr typical at 20 mA, up to 33% higher than comparable devices on the market, and fast switching times of 15 ns. The 940 nm VSMB10940 features GaAIAs multi quantum well technology and a low forward voltage of 1.3 V typical while the 850 nm VSMG10850 offers GaAIAs double hetero technology and a forward voltage of 1.4 V. The VEMD10940F photodiode features a daylight blocking filter matched with 830 nm to 950 nm IR emitters, including the VSMG10850 and VSMB10940. The device offers a reverse light current of 3 microamps, low dark current of 1 nA, 920 nm wavelength of peak sensitivity, and a low 0.1 %/K temperature coefficient of light current. With their low profiles, the VSMG10850, VSMB10940, and VEMD10940F are optimized for use in IR touch panels for devices such as printer displays, eBook readers, smartphones, tablets, ultrabooks, and GPS units. The devices provide a floor life of 168 hours and moisture sensitivity level (MSL) of 3 in accordance with J-STD-020. The emitters and photodiode support lead (Pb)-free reflow soldering and conform to Vishay's 'Green' standards. Samples and production quantities of the new IR emitters and photodiode are available now, with lead times of six to eight weeks.
