Vestas Wind Systems A/S reported earnings results for the first quarter of 2013. The company reported first-quarter loss before tax narrowed to €151 million from €225 million last year. Net loss for the quarter was €151 million, compared to a loss of €162 million last year. Loss per share was €0.74 compared to a loss of €0.80 per share last year. Revenue decreased to €1.10 billion from €1.11 billion last year. Gross profit improved to €58 million from €12 million last year. The cash flow was improved by €235 million compared to first quarter of 2012. The company maintained its full-year guidance of an EBIT margin before special items of at least 1% and revenue of at least €5.5 billion, including service revenue. The company expects CapEx of €150 million.

Vestas Wind Systems A/S received a firm and unconditional order for 57 V100 turbines for Chile. Project name: Los Cururos, 22 x V100-1.8 MW and 35 x V100-2.0 MW. The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines, civil and electrical works, a VestasOnline Business SCADA solution as well as a 10-year AOM 4000 service agreement. Time of delivery: Delivery of the wind turbines will begin in the third quarter of 2013 and the wind power plant is expected commissioned by the third quarter of 2014.
