In addition, the company is involved in property business; servicing project builders and the housing industry; automotive service, repair, and tire businesses through 251 Kmart Tyre and Auto Service stores; and supplying and distributing maintenance, repair, and operating products, as well as industrial safety products and services. Further, it provides rural and small business regional insurance; general insurance through broking intermediaries; insurance broking services; and risk management solutions to corporates, small-to-medium sized businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and individuals. Additionally, the company offers chemicals for industry, mining, and mineral processing activities; broadacre and horticultural fertilizers; LPG and LNG; industrial, medical, and specialty gases; and industrial equipment. It holds interest in the Curragh and Bengalla cola mines in Australia. The company also provides investment banking advisory and structured finance services; manages investment funds in private equity and property; and operates a softwood sawmill. Wesfarmers Limited was founded in 1914 and is headquartered in Perth, Australia.

Wesfarmers Limited reported production results for the third quarter and for the 12 months to 31 March 2013. For the quarter, the company reported total coal production was 2,267,000 tonnes (comprising 1,535,000 tonnes of metallurgical coal and 732,000 tonnes of steaming coal), 15.2% lower than the previous quarter. Coal production was impacted by wet weather associated with Cyclone Oswald, which significantly interrupted rail and port activity for four weeks and led to mine stockpiles reaching capacity. Metallurgical coal production decreased by 15.4% and steaming coal production decreased by 14.8% compared to the previous quarter. For the 12 months to 31 March 2013, metallurgical coal production increased 26.5% to 7,747,000 tonnes, reflecting the additional capacity of Curragh's new coal handling and preparation plant.
Wesfarmers Limited reported sales results for the third quarter and year to date ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported total coles sales of AUD 8,351 million compared to AUD 7,845 million for the last year. Total Home Improvement & Office Supplies were AUD 2,275 million compared to AUD 2,156 million a year ago. For the year to date, the company's total coles sales were $26,685 million compared to $25,347 million a year ago. Total home improvement & office supplies sales was $6,997 million compared to $6,658 million a year ago.
