XL GROUP Public Limited Company, through its subsidiaries, provides insurance and reinsurance coverages to industrial, commercial, and professional firms, as well as insurance companies and other enterprises worldwide. The company operates in three segments: Insurance, Reinsurance, and Life Operations. The Insurance segment offers property, primary and excess casualty, environmental liability, excess and surplus lines, construction, and surety insurance products, as well as engages in program business; professional lines, such as directors’ and officers’ liability, errors and omissions liability, employment practices liability, and technology and cyber liability coverages; and specialty lines, including aviation and satellite, marine and offshore energy, fine art and specie, equine, product recall, political risk and trade credit, and North America inland marine. This segment is also involved in underwriting and pricing various risks individually. The Reinsurance segment provides casualty, property risk, property catastrophe, marine, aviation, treaty, energy, marine, aviation, space, engineering, fidelity, surety, trade credit, and political risk products; and underwrites a portfolio of contracts covering political risk and trade credit. The Life Operations segment offers life reinsurance on business written by life insurance companies to manage mortality, morbidity, survivorship, investment, and lapse risks. The company markets its products and services through international, national, and regional producers, acting as the brokers and representatives of policyholders; and through general agents and independent agents acting on behalf of the company. XL GROUP Public Limited Company was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland.

XL Group plc Appoints Andre Liebkopf as Senior Vice President, Head of Aviation Reinsurance

XL Group plc has announced the appointment of Andre Liebkopf as the new senior vice president, or SVP, head of Aviation Reinsurance. Mr. Liebkopf joins from Swiss Reinsurance Company, Zurich, Switzerland, where he held the position of Director, Aviation Reinsurance with portfolio management responsibilities for global clients operating in the London, North American, Latin American, and Eastern European Markets. Before joining Swiss Reinsurance Company, Andre was at Munich Reinsurance Company, Munich, Germany, where in addition to his Aviation Treaty responsibilities, he also held the title of Executive Manager Lloyd's Property.

Philippe Rochaix to Head Xl Group's New Reinsurance Global Emerging Markets Unit

Philippe Rochaix will head XL Group's new reinsurance global emerging markets unit. XL said the unit will be part of its newly named international reinsurance business group and is aimed at optimizing development in emerging markets. Rochaix was already in charge of XL's Latin America reinsurance operations. Prior to this, he was general manager of XL's French reinsurance branch and also served as chief underwriting officer of XL's Singapore reinsurance branch. David Watson, chief executive officer of XL Re Europe, will continue to head the newly minted International Reinsurance group. Watson led XL's European, Asia Pacific and Middle East & North Africa operations since 2006. Before that, he was general manager of XL's London reinsurance operations.
