XL GROUP Public Limited Company, through its subsidiaries, provides insurance and reinsurance coverages to industrial, commercial, and professional firms, as well as insurance companies and other enterprises worldwide. The company operates in three segments: Insurance, Reinsurance, and Life Operations. The Insurance segment offers property, primary and excess casualty, environmental liability, excess and surplus lines, construction, and surety insurance products, as well as engages in program business; professional lines, such as directors’ and officers’ liability, errors and omissions liability, employment practices liability, and technology and cyber liability coverages; and specialty lines, including aviation and satellite, marine and offshore energy, fine art and specie, equine, product recall, political risk and trade credit, and North America inland marine. This segment is also involved in underwriting and pricing various risks individually. The Reinsurance segment provides casualty, property risk, property catastrophe, marine, aviation, treaty, energy, marine, aviation, space, engineering, fidelity, surety, trade credit, and political risk products; and underwrites a portfolio of contracts covering political risk and trade credit. The Life Operations segment offers life reinsurance on business written by life insurance companies to manage mortality, morbidity, survivorship, investment, and lapse risks. The company markets its products and services through international, national, and regional producers, acting as the brokers and representatives of policyholders; and through general agents and independent agents acting on behalf of the company. XL GROUP Public Limited Company was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland.

XL Group plc announced the appointment of Thierry Daucourt as Chief Operating Officer of its International P&C Insurance business. In his role Mr. Daucourt will be responsible for supporting the unit's Chief Executive, Jason Harris, in the ongoing development and execution of its strategy and main policies to drive expansion, financial performance and efficiencies across the region. XL Group's International region includes all markets in Europe, Asia Pacific and Iberia & Latin America. Mr. Daucourt will report to Jason Harris, Chief Executive of the International P&C Insurance business and will be based in Zurich.

XL Group plc Expands Inland Marine Offerings with New Motor Cargo Truck Coverage Solutions

XL Group plc announced that it is boosting its inland marine business with the addition of its Motor Truck Cargo Coverage Solutions, customizable coverage for mid-to-large size trucking operations in North America. Among the 23 coverages included are: Contract Penalty, Employee Tools and Work Clothing, Expediting Expense, Extra Expense, Fire Protection Systems, Freight Charges, Loss Adjustment Expenses, Public Emergency Service Charges Right and Duty to Defend, Reimbursement for Returning Stolen Property, Shippers Control of Damaged Goods, Unintentional Erros and Omissions, Virus, Harmful or Similar Instructions. Among the 22 optional endorsements are: Contingent Coverage for Freight Forwarders and Brokers, Destination Market Value, Employee Theft, Single Deductible Across Multiple Coverage Forms, Cargo Rust or Corrosion Protection, Temperature Control System Breakdown Coverage.

XL Group Appoints Lee Meyrick as New Chief Underwriting Officer

XL Group plc has appointed Lee Meyrick, as chief underwriting officer of global marine and offshore energy. His responsibilities will focus on delivering on strategic aspirations and in doing so he will be working with a strong group of talented individuals across the XL Group. Mr. Meyrick joins from Zurich Insurance Group, where he held the position of Global Head of Marine and Chief Underwriting Officer from 2011. Prior, he was Global Marine Practice Leader at Zurich (2009-2010).
