The Insurance segment offers property, primary and excess casualty, environmental liability, excess and surplus lines, construction, and surety insurance products, as well as property and casualty coverages. It also provides professional lines, such as directors’ and officers’ liability, errors and omissions liability, employment practices liability, and technology and cyber liability coverages; and specialty lines, including aviation and satellite, marine and offshore energy, fine art and specie, equine, product recall, political violence, political risk and trade credit, and North America inland marine insurance products. This segment also offers risk management solutions; and underwrites and prices various risks individually. The Reinsurance segment provides casualty, property risk, property catastrophe, marine, aviation, treaty, energy, marine, aviation, space, engineering, fidelity, surety, trade credit, and political risk products; and underwriting services. The Life Operations segment offers life reinsurance on business written by life insurance companies to facilitate them to manage mortality, morbidity, survivorship, investment, and lapse risks. The company markets its products and services through international, national, and regional producers, acting as the brokers and representatives of policyholders; and through general agents and independent agents acting on behalf of the company. XL GROUP Public Limited Company was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland.

XL Group's North America Construction Business Launches P3 Plus Insurance Solution

XL Group's North America Construction business launches new all lines insurance solution called P3 Plus, created to manage the design, construction, and operational and maintenance phases of P3 risk that accompanies these public infrastructure projects. In P3 projects, private companies, including many contractors, contribute financial capital to the public projects, build them and recoup their investment by operating and maintaining the asset or infrastructure as a revenue source. XL Group's P3 insurance coverages are also accompanied by integrated construction risk engineering and claims services throughout the project lifespan. Each P3 client is assigned a dedicated experienced construction risk engineer who will oversees risk services to provide engineering consultation for the O&M risk, coordinate with Underwriting and Claims on all aspects of coverage, offer technical assistance, develop site-specific safety plan, serve on Project Safety Committee and Deliver training support.

XL Group plc Introduces Three New Marine Insurance Programs

XL Group plc has introduced three new marine insurance programs to protect boaters, marinas and vessels. The company's three new recreational marine liability insurance coverages include: boat dealers coverage solutions; marina operators legal liability coverage solutions; and shipshape for workboats. Boat dealers coverage solutions provide property insurance coverage for dealer inventory as well as third party liability arising out of the sale, demonstration, exhibition, and transportation of a vessel. Marina operators legal liability coverage solutions provide marina operators' liability insurance protection from owners and boats in the care, custody and control of the marina operator for the purpose of repairs, maintenance, storage, moorage, fueling, hauling or launching. ShipShape for workboats provide all risk hull and Protection & Indemnity (P&I) coverage for vessels owned by marinas and boat dealers. Marine general liability combines marine liability with general liability, premises liability, products & completed operations, personal & advertising and damage to premises rented by the insured. Coverage can also be tailored to include contractual liability, sudden & accidental pollution, non-owned and hired auto, stop-gap, employee benefits liability and liquor liability.

XL Group plc reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported total revenues of $1,693,594,000 against $1,878,109,000 a year ago. Income before income tax, income from operating affiliates, and Life Retrocession Arrangements was $268,079,000 against $146,977,000 a year ago. Net income was $109,967,000 against $170,670,000 a year ago. Net income attributable to ordinary shareholders was $72,384,000 or $0.27 diluted earnings per share against $135,648,000 or $0.47 diluted earnings per share a year ago. Fully diluted tangible book value per ordinary share was $35.40 at September 30, 2014, an increase of $1.54, or 4.5%, from December 31, 2013. Operating net income was $187,088,000 or $0.70 diluted earnings per share against $154,628,000 or $0.53 diluted earnings per share a year ago. Operating income was $187 million compared to $155 million in 2013. For the nine months, the company reported total revenues of $5,311,452,000 against $5,628,731,000 a year ago. Income before income tax, income from operating affiliates, and Life Retrocession Arrangements was $911,590,000 against $817,915,000 a year ago. Net income was $125,864,000 against $833,080,000 a year ago. Net income attributable to ordinary shareholders was $48,840,000 or $0.18 diluted earnings per share against $759,136,000 or $2.57 diluted earnings per share a year ago. Operating net income was $705,313,000 or $2.57 diluted earnings per share against $656,087,000 or $2.23 diluted earnings per share a year ago.
