In addition, it is engaged in the sale, repair, and maintenance of equipment; provision of system integration and consulting, best tone information, e-commerce, instant messenger, and music production and related information services; ands sale of telecommunications terminals, as well as offers prepaid calling cards. The company serves government, enterprise, commercial, and residential customers. As of December 31, 2013, it operated a wireline network of approximately 156 million access lines in service; and served 100 million wireline broadband subscribers and 186 million mobile subscribers. The company was incorporated in 2002 and is based in Beijing, the People's Republic of China. China Telecom Corporation Limited is a subsidiary of China Telecommunications Corporation.

ZTE Launches G717C Smartphone with China Telecom

ZTE and China Telecom have launched the ZTE G717C smartphone. The Android-based smartphone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8926 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 5-inch 720p touch screen, 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM, 8-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front camera. The device also supports TD-LTE, LTE FDD, CDMA 2000 and GSM, and will be available for sale at a contract-free price of CNY 1,599.

China Telecom Launches LTE Hybrid Network Trial

China Telecom has announced it has received approval from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to start a LTE FDD and TD-LTE hybrid network trial in 16 cities on the mainland. These 16 cities are Shanghai, Xi'an, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Nanjing, Jinan, Hefei, Shijiazhuang, Haikou, Zhengzhou, Chongqing, Shenzhen, Nanchang, Nanning and Lanzhou.

Level 3 Communications, Inc. Works with China Telecom to Introduce Video Cloud Solution to China

Level 3 Communications, Inc. announced the expansion of Level 3's Video Cloud Services, a cloud-based solution that moves, stores and delivers broadcast and Internet video on a global scale, to China through an agreement with China Telecom. The agreement enables Level 3's content customers to access China's diverse consumer market while also allowing CTG's content customers to distribute content and media services globally. As consumption of Internet video continues to grow across multiple consumer devices, content companies increasingly require the efficient transfer of massive amounts of high-quality video content and data in a variety of formats. China represents one of the growing markets for video consumption and production globally, and through the agreement with CTG, Level 3 is able to offer an efficient, secure and scalable approach to content distribution in the region. Additionally, CTG will provide access to Level 3's Video Cloud Services for its content customers who are looking to expand their own global audience base. In connection with this agreement, CDN nodes will initially be deployed in Hong Kong, with additional expansion planned across the region. Level 3's Video Cloud Services are a full suite of IP-based video services designed to support content delivery throughout its life cycle, from signal acquisition to delivery to viewers. Services include live Vyvx broadcast video acquisition, encoding and transcoding, global delivery via the Level 3 CDN, as well as comprehensive, self-service analytics and reporting.
