It offers community banking services, including small and medium-sized business and corporate banking; commercial and residential development, construction, and term lending; retail banking; treasury cash management and related products and services; residential mortgages; trust and wealth management services; and investment services. The company also provides personal banking services comprising home mortgages, bankcard, other installment loans, home equity lines of credit, checking accounts, savings accounts, certificates of deposit of various types and maturities, safe deposit facilities, direct deposits, and trust services, as well as Internet and mobile banking services. In addition, it offers online and traditional brokerage services; municipal finance advisory and underwriting services; and small business administration loans. The company provides its services primarily in Utah, California, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon. As of December 31, 2013, it operated 469 domestic branches. Zions Bancorporation was founded in 1873 and is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.

For the quarter, total interest income was $463,191,000 against $493,233,000 for the same period a year ago. Net interest income was $416,283,000 against $430,657,000 for the same period a year ago. Income before income taxes was $189,522,000 against $126,117,000 for the same period a year ago. Net income was $119,550,000 against $83,026,000 a year ago. Net earnings applicable to common shareholders were $104,490,000 against $55,385,000 for the same period a year ago. Net earnings per common share basic and diluted were $0.56 against $0.30 for the same period a year ago. Net earnings applicable to common shareholders, excluding the effects of the adjustments, net of tax (non-GAAP) was $106,225,000 against $57,776,000 for the same period a year ago. Return on average assets was $0.87% against 0.61% for the same period a year ago. Return on average equity was 7.30% against 4.35% for the same period a year ago. Tangible return on average tangible common equity was 9.07% against 5.73% a year ago. Book value per common share was $30.77 against $27.82 a year ago.
