It researches, develops, manufactures, and markets various bioactive products of marine origin for application in oncology, as well as of natural origin or obtained through synthesis for application in human and animal medicine; and products with therapeutic activity based on reducing or silencing gene expression, and pharmaceutical derivatives. The company also develops and markets products for biopharmaceutical applications, and provides diagnosis and services; sells pharmaceutical products; and manufactures and sells wood and metal protective and decorative products, paints, and similar products; domestic and industrial insecticides, and air fresheners; automatic aerosol dispensers under its Copyrmatic brand; and products for ecological farming, as well as offers services for treating and protecting wood; and repairing and preserving structures, as well as insect control and disinfection. Its products include Yondelis (trabectedin) for the treatment of relapsed platinum-sensitive ovarian cancer and soft tissue sarcoma, as well as for therapeutic uses other than soft tissue sarcoma and ovarian cancer; Aplidin in combination with dexametasone to treat patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma; Zalypsi to treat multiple myeloma; PM01183 for treating pancreatic cancer, platinum-refractory/ resistant ovarian cancer, leukaemia, and solid tumors; PM060184 to treat solid tumors; Nypt (tideglusib) for treating Alzheimer´s disease; SYL040012 to treat glaucoma and dry eye; and diagnostic kits comprising CLART SeptiBac+, which uses blood cultures to detect gram-positive bacteria and sepsis-causing fungi, as well as CLART EnteroBac to detect the presence in stool samples of various types of bacteria that secrete enteroto. The company was founded in 1939 and is based in Madrid, Spain.

Zeltia SA reported earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the period, the company's results reflect attainment of another milestone in the contract between PharmaMar and Janssen Pharmaceuticals signed in December 2011, for which the company received EUR 19 million. Net sales totalled EUR 30.8 million, compared with EUR 31.3 million in the same period last year, that is a slight decline of 1.6%. Total revenues amounted to EUR 50.2 million, of which 71% came from outside Spain. EBITDA totalled EUR 17.6 million compared to EUR 0.9 million for the same period a year ago. Net income attributable to the parent company was EUR 15.8 million against net loss attributable to the parent company of EUR 4.3 million a year ago. Operating cash flow was EUR 6.6 million against operating cash flows used of EUR 10.7 million a year ago.
