Wide Band Corp. has announced that it has been selected by the US Army for a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Contract. This continues work started in 2010 when the Army awarded WideBand a Phase I contract. Phase II projects typically run two-years and are valued at up to $730,000. The goal of the project is to research and develop key technology areas that will reduce latency in a multi-node communication architecture and lead to a modular and reusable communications architecture for the hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) test environments. The technology is expected to also be applicable to reduce the latency in multi-node communication systems. Potential commercial applications include high performance cluster computing environments such as digital content distribution, digital video surveillance with processing such as facial recognition, signal processing, and scientific research.
