The Others segment is involved in the provision of communications services, such as next-generation LTE-compatible mobile data communication, telecommunications, Internet connection, and corporate mobile phone services; and management of a professional baseball team. The company was formerly known as MDM, Inc. and changed its name to Rakuten, Inc. in June 1999. Rakuten, Inc. was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
