ern Public Service Company and Westar Energy, Inc. PSO is a member of Southwest Power Pool regional transmission organization (SPP). Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCo) SWEPCo engages in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electric power to approximately 526,000 retail customers in northeastern and panhandle of Texas, northwestern Louisiana, and western Arkansas and in supplying and marketing electric power at wholesale to other electric utility companies, municipalities, rural electric cooperatives, and other market participants. Among the principal industries served by SWEPCo are natural gas and oil production, petroleum refining, manufacturing of pulp and paper, chemicals, food processing, and metal refining. AEP Texas Central Company (TCC) TCC engages in the transmission and distribution of electric power to approximately 806,000 retail customers through retail electric providers (REPs) in southern Texas. Among the principal industries served by TCC are chemical and petroleum refining, chemicals and allied products, oil and natural gas extraction, food processing, metal refining, plastics and machinery equipment. AEP Texas North Company (TNC) TNC engages in the transmission and distribution of electric power to approximately 188,000 retail customers through REPs in west and central Texas. Among the principal industries served by TNC are petroleum refining, agriculture and the manufacturing or processing of cotton seed products, oil products, precision and consumer metal products, meat products, and gypsum products. Wheeling Power Company (WPCo) WPCo provides electric service to approximately 41,000 retail customers in northern West Virginia. AEP Generating Company (AEGCo) AEGCo is an electric generating company. AEGCo owns 2,496 MW of generating capacity. AEGCo sells power at wholesale to AEP Generation Resources Inc (AGR), Indiana Michigan Power Company (I&M) and Kentucky Power Company (KPCo). AEP Transmission Holding Company, LLC (AEPTHCo) AEPTHCo is a holding company for American Electric Power Company, Inc.’s (AEP) transmission operations joint ventures. AEPTHCo also owns AEPTCo, a holding company for seven Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)-regulated transmission-only electric utilities, each of which is geographically aligned with existing utility operating companies. The transmission companies develop and own new transmission assets that are physically connected to AEP’s system. Individual transmission companies have obtained the approvals necessary to operate in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma and West Virginia. Service Company Subsidiary The company also owns a service company subsidiary, American Electric Power Service Corporation (AEPSC). AEPSC provides accounting, administrative, information systems, engineering, financial, legal, maintenance, and other services. Electric Generation As of December 31, 2013, the company’s vertically integrated public utility subsidiaries owned or leased approximately 26,900 MW of domestic generation. Electric Delivery The company’s vertically integrated public utility subsidiaries own and operate transmission and distribution lines and other facilities to deliver electric power. Segments The company’s segments include Vertically Integrated Utilities, Transmission and Distribution Utilities, Generation & Marketing, AEP Transmission Holdco, and AEP River Operations. Vertically Integrated Utilities: This segment is engaged in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity for sale to retail and wholesale customers through assets owned and operated by AEGCo, APCo, I&M, KGPCo, KPCo, PSO, SWEPCo and WPCo. Transmission and Distribution Utilities: This segment is engaged in the transmission and distribution of electricity for sale to retail and wholesale customers through assets owned and operated by OPCo, TCC and TNC. OPCo purchases energy and capacity to serve remaining generation service customers.
