Air Lease Corporation operates as an aircraft leasing company. The company principally engages in purchasing and leasing commercial aircraft to airlines worldwide. It also provides fleet management services to third parties. As of December 31, 2011, the company’s fleet consisted of 102 aircraft, 81 single-aisle jet aircraft, 19 twin-aisle widebody aircraft, and 2 turboprop aircraft. Its fleet principally includes fuel-efficient and newer technology aircraft, consisting of narrowbody (single-aisle) aircraft, such as the Boeing 737-700/800, the Airbus A319/320/321, the Embraer E190; and select widebody (twin-aisle) aircraft, such as the Boeing 777-300ER, the Airbus A330-200/300, and the ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft. As of December 31, 2011, it had entered into leases commitments with airlines in Australia, Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Ethiopia, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Vietnam. Significant Events In July 2012, ATR and Air Lease Corporation (ALC) signed a contract for the acquisition of 2 ATR 72-600s. These 72-seat aircraft are the conversion into firm orders of two of the ten options that ATR and ALC included in their first deal, booked in Farnborough 2010. In February 2013, Air Lease Corporation has signed a contract for 25 A350 XWB Family aircraft, consisting of 20 A350-900 and five A350-1000, the large member of the A350 XWB Family. ALC also has options for five additional A350-1000s. History Air Lease Corporation was founded in 2010.
