All Other This segment consists of asset and liability management activities, equity investments, the international consumer card business, liquidating businesses, residual expense allocations, and other. Asset and liability management activities include the whole-loan residential mortgage portfolio and investment securities; interest rate and foreign currency risk management activities, including the residual net interest income allocation; gains/losses on structured liabilities; the impact of certain allocation methodologies; and accounting hedge ineffectiveness. Additionally, certain residential mortgage loans that are managed by CRES are held in All Other. Deposits Deposits include the results of consumer deposit activities which consist of a range of products provided to consumers and small businesses. The company’s deposit products include traditional savings accounts, money market savings accounts, CDs and IRAs, and noninterest- and interest-bearing checking accounts, as well as investment accounts and products. Consumer Lending Consumer Lending is an issuer of credit and debit cards to consumers and small businesses in the U.S. The company’s lending products and services also include direct and indirect consumer loans, such as automotive, marine, aircraft, recreational vehicle, and consumer personal loans. Government Supervision and Regulation The company is subject to the supervision of, and regular inspection by, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (Federal Reserve). The company’s banking subsidiaries (the banks) organized as national banking associations are subject to regulation, supervision and examination by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Federal Reserve. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau regulates consumer financial products and services. The company’s U.S. broker/dealer subsidiaries are subject to regulation by and supervision of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), New York Stock Exchange and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority; its commodities businesses in the U.S. are subject to regulation by and supervision of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC); its derivatives activity is generally subject to regulation and supervision of the CFTC and National Futures Association or the SEC, and in the case of the banks, certain banking regulators; and its insurance activities are subject to licensing and regulation by state insurance regulatory agencies. The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act requires the banks to periodically disclose the company’s privacy policies and practices relating to sharing such information and enables retail customers to opt out of its ability to share information with unaffiliated third parties under certain circumstances. Significant Events In March 2014, The National Theatre has announced a multi-year partnership with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, which would see the two organisations working together on the theatre's NT Future initiative.
