Camden National Bank Camden National Bank offers its products and services in the Maine counties of Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Hancock, Knox, Lincoln, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Somerset, Waldo, Washington, and York. It focuses primarily on attracting deposits from the general public through its branches, and then using such deposits to originate residential mortgage loans, commercial business loans, commercial real estate loans, and various consumer loans. Its financial offerings include college, retirement, and estate planning, mutual funds, strategic asset management accounts, and variable and fixed annuities. Acadia Trust, N.A. (Acadia Trust) Acadia Trust, a direct, wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, is a non-depository trust company. Acadia Trust provides a range of trust, trust-related, investment, and wealth management services, in addition to retirement and pension plan management services, to both individual and institutional clients. The financial services provided by Acadia Trust complement the services provided by Camden National Bank by offering customers investment management services. Loans The company provides loans primarily to customers located within its geographic market area. Residential Real Estate Loans: Residential real estate loans consist of loans secured by one-to four-family residences. The company generally retains in its portfolio adjustable-rate mortgages and fixed-rate mortgages with terms of 20 years or less. Commercial Real Estate Loans: Commercial real estate loans consist of loans secured by income and non-income producing commercial real estate. The company focuses on lending to financially sound business customers within its geographic marketplace, as well as offering loans for the acquisition, development, and construction of commercial real estate. Commercial Loans: Commercial loans consist of loans secured by various corporate assets, as well as loans to provide working capital in the form of lines of credit, which might be secured or unsecured. The company and the bank are subject to various federal and state laws designed to protect consumers and prohibit unfair or deceptive business practices. These laws include the Equal Credit Opportunity Act; the Fair Housing Act; the Home Ownership Protection Act; the Fair Credit Reporting Act, as amended by the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003 (the ‘FACT Act’); the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999 (the ‘GLBA’); Truth in Lending Act; the Community Reinvestment Act (the ‘CRA’); the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act; Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act; National Flood Insurance Act; and various state law counterparts. Pursuant to the FACT Act, the bank must also develop and implement a written identity theft prevention program to detect, prevent, and mitigate identity theft in connection with the opening of certain accounts or certain existing accounts. The Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001, together with the implementing regulations of various federal regulatory agencies, has caused financial institutions, such as the bank, to adopt and implement additional policies or amend existing policies and procedures with respect to anti-money laundering compliance, suspicious activity, currency transaction reporting, customer identity verification, and customer risk analysis.
