The company specializes in radio, digital, out-of-home, mobile and on-demand entertainment, and information services for national audiences and local communities while providing premiere opportunities for advertisers. Segments The company operates through three segments: Media and Entertainment (CCME); Americas Outdoor Advertising (Americas Outdoor); and International Outdoor Advertising (International Outdoor), as well as Other. CCME This segment provides media and entertainment services through broadcast and digital delivery, and also includes the company’s national syndication business. This segment’s operations include radio broadcasting, online and mobile services and products, program syndication, entertainment, traffic data distribution, and music research services. The company’s radio stations and content could be heard on AM/FM stations, HD radio stations, satellite radio, at and its radio stations’ Websites, through the company’s iHeartRadio mobile application on tablets and smart phones, and through navigation systems. This segment includes radio stations for which the company is the licensee and one station for which it provides programming and sells air time under a local marketing agreement. The company is also the beneficiary of Aloha Station Trust, LLC, which owns and operates 20 radio stations. The company’s portfolio of stations offers an assortment of programming formats, including adult contemporary, country, contemporary hit radio, rock, news/talk, sports, urban, oldies, and others. In addition to the company’s local radio programming, it operates Premiere Networks (Premiere), a national radio network that produces, distributes, or represents approximately 90 syndicated radio programs and serves approximately 5,000 radio station affiliates. The company also delivers real-time traffic information through navigation systems, radio and television broadcast media and wireless and Internet-based services through its traffic business, Total Traffic Network. Radio Stations: As of December 31, 2012, the company owned 840 radio stations, including 240 AM and 600 FM domestic radio stations, of which 149 stations were in the top 25 markets. Strategy: This segment’s strategy centers on delivering entertaining and informative content across multiple platforms, including broadcast, mobile, and digital. This segment’s strategy also focuses on continuing to improve the operations of the company’s stations by providing valuable programming and promotions, as well as sharing best practices across its stations in marketing, distribution, sales, and cost management. This segment’s strategy also includes promoting local and national advertising; continuing to improve the listener experience; and delivering content through multiple distribution technologies, such as streaming, and Websites and mobile applications. AMERICAS OUTDOOR This segment consists of operations primarily in the United States and Canada. The company is an outdoor advertising company in North America. The company owns or operates approximately 108,000 display structures in this segment with operations in 48 of the 50 primary markets in the United States, including all of the 20 primary markets. This segment’s assets consist of traditional and digital billboards, street furniture and transit displays, airport displays, mall displays, and wallscapes and other spectaculars, which the company owns or operates under lease management agreements. This segment’s business is focused on metropolitan areas with dense populations. As of December 31, 2012, the company had deployed approximately 1,000 digital billboards in 37 markets in the United States. Billboards The company’s billboard inventory primarily includes bulletins and posters. Bulletins: Bulletins vary in size, with the common size being 14 feet high by 48 feet wide. Digital bulletins display static messages that resemble standard printed bulletins when viewed, and also allow advertisers to change messages throughout the course of a day, and might display advertisements for mu
