AES provides access to exchanges in approximately 35 countries worldwide through approximately 45 trading platforms. Equity Derivatives: It provides a range of equity-related products, investment options and financing solutions, as well as hedging and risk management expertise and execution capabilities to financial institutions, hedge funds, asset managers, and corporations. Convertibles: It involves both secondary trading and market making and the trading of credit default and asset swaps and distributing market information and research. The global convertibles business is a primary originator of new issues throughout the world. Prime Services: It offers hedge funds and institutional clients execution, financing, clearing, and reporting capabilities across various asset classes through prime brokerage, synthetic financing, listed and OTC derivatives, and hedge fund administration. In addition, it provides advisory services across capital services and consulting for both start-ups and existing clients. Systematic Market-Making Group The systematic market-making group operates a range of liquidity-providing and market-making strategies in liquid markets. Other Other products and activities include lending, certain real estate investments and the distressed asset portfolios. Lending includes senior bank debt in the form of syndicated loans and commitments to extend credit to investment grade and non-investment grade borrowers. Markets The company’s global structure comprises four regions: Switzerland; Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA); the Americas; and the Asia Pacific. Switzerland: The company serves clients in 214 branches. EMEA: The company is active in 29 countries across the EMEA region. The EMEA region includes both developed markets, such as France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U.K., as well as emerging markets, including Russia, Poland, Turkey, and the Middle East. Americas: The company has operations in the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Asia Pacific: The company has operations in 12 Asia Pacific countries. Dispositions During 2013, the company completed the sale of its exchange-traded funds business to BlackRock and the sale of Strategic Partners, its secondary private equity business, to Blackstone. In 2014, the company sold the Customized Fund Investment Group, its private equity fund of funds and co-investment business, to Grosvenor Capital Management. History Credit Suisse Group AG was founded in 1856.
