Plan members or their prescribers submit prescriptions or refill requests, primarily for maintenance medications, to these pharmacies through mail, telephone, fax, e-prescribing, or the Internet. Its staff pharmacists review mail service prescriptions and refill requests with the assistance of its prescription management systems. As of December 31, 2013, its specialty pharmacies included 11 specialty mail order pharmacies located throughout the United States that are used for delivery of advanced medications to individuals with chronic or genetic diseases and disorders.
