On average, approximately 1.5 million pizzas are sold each day throughout the Domino’s global system, with deliveries covering approximately 15 million miles per week. The company operates through a network of 10,886 company-owned and franchise stores, located in all 50 states and in approximately 70 international markets. In addition, it operates 16 regional dough manufacturing and supply chain centers, 1 equipment and supply facility, 1 thin crust manufacturing center, and 1 vegetable processing center in the contiguous United States, as well as 7 dough manufacturing and supply chain centers outside the contiguous United States. Segments The company operates its business in three segments: Domestic Stores, Domestic Supply Chain, and International. Domestic Stores: This segment includes 4,596 franchise stores and 390 company-owned stores. Domestic Supply Chain: This segment manufactures the company’s dough and thin crust products for all of the company-owned stores and approximately 99% of it sdomestic franchise stores and processes vegetables and distributes food, equipment and supplies to certain domestic stores. International: This segment includes 5,900 franchise stores outside the contiguous United States. The company also manufactures dough and distributes food and supplies in various markets. Domestic Franchise Program As of December 29, 2013, the company’s 4,596 domestic franchise stores were owned and operated by its 958 domestic franchisees. Business Strategy The company’s business strategy is to execute on its mission statement; improve its leading position in an attractive industry; utilize its strong brand awareness; expand global store base; and focus on product and technological innovation. Government Regulation The company is subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act and various other federal and state laws governing such matters as minimum wage requirements, overtime and other working conditions and citizenship requirements. The company is subject to the rules and regulations of the Federal Trade Commission and various state laws regulating the offer and sale of franchises. Trademarks The company has various registered trademarks and service marks, including the Domino’s mark and Domino’s Pizza names and logos. Significant Events In March 2014, Schneiderman announced labor settlements with 23 Domino'S Restaurants in eight New York counties. In May 2014, Domino's Pizza opened the doors to its 11,000th store worldwide, in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. Competition The company competes with Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, and Little Caesars Pizza.
