The company also invests in the development of differentiated, premium products that are profitable, such as energy efficient solutions for both consumers and businesses. The company sells and services major home appliances, including refrigerators, freezers, electric and gas ranges, cooktops, dishwashers, clothes washers and dryers, microwave ovens, room air conditioners, residential water systems for filtration, softening and heating, and hybrid water heaters. It has global operations located in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America. GE Capital This segment offers a range of financial services and products worldwide for businesses of various sizes. Services include commercial loans and leases, fleet management, financial programs, credit cards, personal loans, and other financial services. This segment also develops strategic partnerships and joint ventures that utilize the company’s industry-specific expertise in aviation, energy, infrastructure and healthcare to capitalize on market-specific opportunities. During 2013, this segment provided approximately $115 billion of new financings in the U.S. to various companies, infrastructure projects, and municipalities. Additionally, the company extended approximately $105 billion of credit to approximately 61 million U.S. consumers. This segment provided credit to approximately 31,200 new commercial customers and 43,000 new small businesses in the U.S. during 2013 and ended the period with outstanding credit to more than 237,000 commercial customers and 212,000 small businesses through retail programs in the U.S. Within this segment, the company operates the businesses described below along product lines.
