The company maintains approximately 20,000 accounts representing approximately 11,000 clients, located in approximately 100 countries. The company’s clients include producers, processors and end-users of all widely traded physical commodities; commercial counterparties who are end-users of its products and services; governmental and non-governmental organizations; and commercial banks, brokers, institutional investors and major investment banks. Strategy The company’s strategy is to utilize a centralized and disciplined process for capital allocation, risk management and cost control, while delegating the execution of strategic objectives and day-to-day management to experienced individuals. Segments The company divides its activities into five functional areas: Commercial Hedging, Global Payments, Securities, Physical Commodities and Clearing and Execution Services. Commercial Hedging This segment serves its commercial clients through its team of risk management consultants, providing a high-value-added service. Its risk management consulting services are designed to quantify and monitor commercial entities’ exposure to commodity and financial risk. Upon assessing this exposure, the company develops a plan to control and hedge these risks with post-trade reporting against specific client objectives. The company’s clients are assisted in the execution of their hedging strategies through a range of products from listed exchange-traded futures and options, to basic over-the-counter instruments. The company’s services span all traded commodity markets, with the concentrations in agricultural and energy commodities (consisting primarily of grains, energy and renewable fuels, coffee, sugar, cotton, and food service) and base metals products listed on the London Metal Exchange (LME). Its base metals business includes a position as a Category One ring dealing member of the LME, providing execution, clearing and advisory services in exchange-traded futures and over-the-counter products. The company also provides execution of foreign currency forwards and options, as well as a range of structured product solutions to its commercial customers who are seeking hedging strategies. Within this segment, the company’s risk management consultants organize their marketing efforts into customer industry product lines, and serves customers in various areas, such as financial agricultural and energy; energy and renewable fuels; LME metals; and others. Global Payments This segment provides global payment solutions to banks and commercial businesses, as well as charities and non-governmental organizations and government organizations. The company offers payments services in approximately 150 countries. The company primarily acts as a principal in buying and selling foreign currencies on a spot basis. Additionally, as a member of SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication), the company is able to offer its services to large money center and global banks seeking international payments services. Securities This segment, through INTL FCStone Securities Inc., provides value-added solutions that facilitate cross-border trading. The company’s clients include U.S.-based regional and national broker-dealers and institutions investing or executing client transactions in international markets and foreign institutions seeking access to the U.S. securities markets. The company makes markets in approximately 800 American Depositary Receipts and foreign ordinary shares traded in the over-the-counter market.
