In its other markets, its broadband Internet service is available on a stand-alone basis or in combination with one or more of its other services. Telephony: Multi-feature fixed-line telephony services are available through its managed, quality of service based voice-over-internet-protocol (VoIP) technology in all of its broadband communication markets. In the U.K., Chile, Austria and Hungary, the company also provides traditional circuit-switched fixed-line telephony services. The company also offers mobile services, both data and voice, as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) over third-party networks in the U.K., Germany, Belgium, Chile and Poland. In the Netherlands and in Hungary, the company provides mobile data services through MVNO arrangements. The company’s fixed-line telephony service includes a basic fixed-line telephony product for line rental and various calling plans, which consist of any of the following: unlimited network, national or international calling, unlimited off-peak calling and minute packages, including calls to fixed and mobile phones. The company also offers a second or third phone line at an incremental cost. In Poland the company offers a phone app that allows its fixed-line telephony customers with smartphones to use their fixed-line call packages. The company also launched this phone app in the U.K., Belgium and Romania in 2013. Telenet and VTR Wireless provide their mobile telephony services as full MVNOs through partnerships with a third-party mobile network operator in their respective footprints. Telenet and VTR Wireless own the core network, including switching, backbone, interconnections, etc., and lease the third party’s radio access network. This arrangement permits Telenet and VTR Wireless to offer their respective customers all mobile services using its core network without having to build and operate a cellular radio tower network and without being limited to offering customers packages and rates designated by the wireless network provider. The company also offers mobile services using third-party networks in the U.K., Germany, Poland and certain other markets. In the U.K., Germany and Poland, the company provides mobile telephony as light MVNOs. In these countries, the company leases the core network, as well as the radio access network from a mobile network operator. The company offers its mobile services throughout the U.K., Belgium (and parts of Luxembourg), Chile and Poland. In Germany, the company offers its mobile service to its customers located within its German footprint who subscribe to a double-play or triple-play bundle and to a lesser extent on a stand-alone basis. The company’s mobile services include telephony, short message service (or SMS) and Internet. The company’s stand-alone mobile services are primarily on a post-paid basis with customers subscribing to services for periods ranging from 30 days for a SIM-only contract to up to 24 months, with the latter often taken with a subsidized mobile handset. In the U.K., the company also offers a prepaid service, where the customers pay for the service prior to using it and generally have no minimum contract term. Business Services In addition to its residential services, the company offers voice, broadband Internet, data, video, wireless and cloud services to business customers. The company’s business services are designed to meet the specific demands of the business customer. The company’s business customers range from small or home office (SOHO)(generally fewer than 10 employees) to medium and large enterprises, as well as on a wholesale basis to other operators. In addition, the company targets specific industry segments, such as financial institutions, hospitals and care facilities, education institutions and government offices, with solutions combining its standard range of services with value added features, such as dedicated customer care and enhanced service performance monitoring.
