The company offers various cruises ranging in length from one day to three weeks. During 2013, it docked at 114 ports worldwide. It offers a selection of exotic itineraries outside of the traditional cruising markets of the Caribbean and Mexico. The company’s ships have passenger amenities, including approximately 20 dining options together with various private balcony staterooms on each ship. 7 of the company’s ships offer accommodations in The Haven, with suites approximately 932 square feet, which provide personal butler service and access to a private courtyard area with private pool, sundecks, hot tubs, and fitness center. In addition, 6 of its ships have luxury garden suites with approximately 6,694 square feet. These luxury garden villas offer three separate bedroom areas, spacious living and dining room areas, as well as 24-hour, on call butler and concierge service. The company is also introducing The Waterfront, a quarter-mile oceanfront boardwalk, which would create outdoor seating areas for various dining venues and lounges. Itineraries The company offers cruise itineraries ranging from 1 day to 3 weeks calling on approximately 100 worldwide locations, including destinations in the Caribbean, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Mexico, Alaska, Europe, Hawaii, New England, Central America, North Africa and Scandinavia. The company has developed, and is continuing to develop, innovative itineraries to position its ships in new and niche markets, as well as in the mainstream markets throughout the Americas and Europe. Ports and Facilities The company has an agreement with the Government of Bermuda whereby two of its ships are permitted weekly calls in Bermuda through 2018 from Boston, Baltimore, Charleston, and New York. In addition, it owns a private island in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup Cay, which the company utilizes as a port-of-call on some of its itineraries. The company has a contract with the New York City Economic Development Corporation pursuant to which it receives preferential berthing rights on specific piers at the city’s passenger ship terminals. Revenue Management Practices The company’s cruise ticket prices generally include cruise fare and various onboard activities and amenities, including meals and entertainment. In some instances, cruise ticket prices include round-trip airfare to and from the port of embarkation. Product Distribution Channels and Sales The company sells its product through its primary distribution channels, including retail/travel agent, international, and meetings, incentives, and charters. Its travel partner base includes a network of approximately 23,000 independent travel agencies, including brick and mortar, Internet-based and home-based operators located in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Outside of the United States (U.S.), the company has an international sales presence in Europe and representatives covering Latin America, Australia, and Asia. The company focuses primarily on increasing its business in the United Kingdom and the Continental Europe markets. Business Strategies The company’s business strategies include attractive product offerings; maximizing net yields, such as casino player strategy and strategic relationships; expanding brand through disciplined newbuild program; and expanding and strengthening its product distribution channels. Seasonality The seasonality of the North American cruise industry results in the greatest demand for cruises during the summer months. This seasonality in demand has resulted in fluctuations in the company’s revenue and results of operations.
