Domestic Company-Owned Restaurants This segment consists of the operations of various domestic company-owned restaurants. This segment engages principally in the retail sale of pizza and side items, such as breadsticks, cheesesticks, chicken strips, chicken wings, dessert pizza, and soft drinks to the general public. Domestic Commissaries This segment consists of the operations of the company’s regional dough production and product distribution centers. This segment engages principally in the sale and distribution of food and paper products to domestic company-owned and franchised restaurants. The company owns full-service international quality control centers in the United Kingdom, Mexico City, Mexico, and Beijing, China. Other international full-service quality control centers are licensed to franchisees or non-franchisee third parties, and are located in the markets where its franchisees have restaurants. PJ Food Service, Inc., its wholly-owned subsidiary, operates its domestic company-owned quality control centers. North America Franchising This segment consists of the company’s franchise sales and support activities. This segment engages in the sale of franchise and development rights, and collection of royalties from its franchisees located in the United States and Canada. International Operations This segment principally consists of its company-owned restaurants and distribution sales to franchised Papa John’s restaurants located in the United Kingdom, Mexico, and China and its franchise sales and support activities. This segment engages in the sale of franchise and development rights, and the collection of royalties from its international franchisees. International franchisees are defined as various franchise operations outside of the United States and Canada. All Other This segment engages principally in the sale of printing and promotional items, risk management services, and information systems and related services used in restaurant operations, including the company’s online and other technology-based ordering platforms to company-owned and franchised restaurants. In September 2012, Papa John's International Inc. announced the opening of its first restaurant in Azerbaijan, bringing pizza to 2 million residents of Baku.
