Segments The company manages its business in three segments: Commercial Trailer Products, Diversified Products, and Retail. Commercial Trailer Products This segment manufactures standard and customized truck trailers. The company offers its proprietary composite product, DuraPlate. The company manufactures steel and aluminum flatbed and dropdeck trailers. The company markets its transportation equipment under the Wabash, DuraPlate, DuraPlateHD, DuraPlate XD-35, FreightPro, ArcticLite, RoadRailer, Transcraft, Eagle, Eagle II, D-Eagle and Benson trademarks directly to customers, through independent dealers and through company-owned retail branch network. For its van business, the company utilizes a total of 23 independent dealers with approximately 59 locations throughout North America to market and distribute its trailers. The company distributes its flatbed and dropdeck trailers through a network of 76 independent dealers with approximately 118 locations throughout North America. In addition, it maintains a used fleet sales center to focus on selling both large and small fleet trade packages to the wholesale market. Diversified Products This segment focuses on its commitment to expand its customer base, diversify its product offerings, end markets and revenues and extend its market leadership by utilizing its intellectual property and technology, including its proprietary DuraPlate panel technology, drawing on its core manufacturing expertise and making available products that are complementary to the truck and tank trailers and transportation equipment it offers. This segment includes various products and customer-specific solutions. The Diversified Products segment has utilized its DuraPlate panel technology to develop various proprietary products, including a foldable portable storage container and the AeroSkirt, an aerodynamic solution for over-the-road trailers that provides approximately 6% improvement in fuel efficiency. In addition, the company utilizes its DuraPlate technology in the production of truck bodies, overhead doors and other industrial applications. These DuraPlate composite products are sold to original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket customers. Through its Diversified Products segment, the company also operates a wood flooring production facility that manufactures laminated hard wood oak products for the van trailer industry. The company owns Walker Group Holdings (Walker), a manufacturer of liquid-transportation systems and engineered products based in New Lisbon, Wisconsin. Walker’s transportation products include brands, such as Walker Transport, Garsite, Walker Defense Group, Progress Tank, Brenner Tank, TST and Bulk International. These brands represent positions in liquid transportation systems, including stainless steel liquid transportation systems and stainless steel liquid-tank trailers for the North American chemical, dairy, food and beverage, petroleum, aviation, energy services and waste hauling markets. Walker’s engineered products include brands, such as Walker Engineered Products, Walker Barrier Systems and Extract Technology. Retail This segment includes its 18 Company-owned retail branch locations, which are located near large metropolitan areas to provide additional opportunities to distribute its products, diversify its factory direct sales and also offer nationwide services and support capabilities for its customers.
