An unknown buyer agreed to acquire 10 small U.S. hydroelectric generating facilities from Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (TSX:AQN) for CAD 27 million on March 14, 2013. The deal is expected to complete in 2013.

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (TSX:AQN) announced a private placement of 3,960,000 common shares at CAD 7.40 per share for gross proceeds of CAD 29,304,000 from returning investor Emera Inc. on February 22, 2013.

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (TSX:AQN) entered into an agreement to acquire New England Gas Company from The Laclede Group, Inc. (NYSE:LG) for $74 million on February 11, 2013. Algonquin Power will pay $54.5 million and will assume debt of $19.5 million. The consideration is subject to working capital and closing adjustments. The transaction will be funded using a targeted 52% equity and 48% debt capital structure. Laclede and Southern Union entered into a consent ... agreement reflecting, among other things, Southern Union's consent and agreement to facilitate APUC's acquisition of New England Gas Company by means of the new agreement after all conditions to closing under the initial agreement as well as under the new agreement have been satisfied. The Laclede subsidiary will remain obligated to acquire New England Gas Company pursuant to the terms of the initial agreement with Southern Union in the event that APUC is not able to satisfy all conditions to closing on or before October 14, 2013. The transaction is subject to certain approvals and conditions, including state and federal regulatory approval. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2013.
