Hitachi Ltd. (TSE:6501) acquired 16.7% stake in Granpa Co., Ltd for ¥100 million on May 8, 2013.

Nippon Express Co. Ltd. (TSE:9062) entered into share exchange agreement to acquire remaining 16.19% stake in Nittsu Shoji Co., Ltd. from a group of sellers for ¥9.7 billion in stock on December 21, 2012. Kyokuyo Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd. will sell 2.7% stake, Kajima Corporation (TSE:1812) will sell 1.9% stake, Taisei Corporation will sell 1.5% stake, Hitachi Ltd. (TSE:6501) will sell 1.4% stake, and Shimizu Corporation will sell 1.1% stake. Nippon Express will issue 21 ... shares for each share of Nittsu Shoji and will allot 29.92 million shares. Nippon Express will allot shares by treasury shares and will not issue new shares for the acquisition. Nippon Express Co. Ltd. will operate Nittsu Shoji Co., Ltd. as its wholly owned subsidiary. For the year ended March 2012, Nittsu Shoji had net assets of ¥50.874 billion, total assets of ¥232.91 billion, sales of ¥368.9 billion, operating profit of ¥7.33 billion, ordinary profit of ¥8.38 billion, and net profit of ¥4.65 billion. Board of Directors of Nippon Express and Nittsu Shoji resolved the transaction on December 21, 2012. The shareholders’ meeting of Nittsu Shoji will held on February 15, 2013. Mahle Japan Ltd. agreed to acquire an additional 23.99% stake in Kokusan Denki Co., Ltd. (TSE:6992) from Hitachi Ltd. (TSE:6501) and others on December 6, 2012. Mahle Japan owned 0.44 million shares in Kokusan Denki and agreed to acquire additional 3.57 million shares. The transaction is expected to close on January 7, 2013.
