MetLife, Inc. (NYSE:MET) made a tender offer to acquire Administradora de Fondos de Pensiones Provida SA (SNSE:PROVIDA) from BBVA Inversiones Chile, S.A. and other shareholders for $2 billion in cash on February 1, 2013. The transaction will be funded from MetLife's existing cash balances. In addition to the consideration, Provida shareholders are expected to receive from Provida, dividends representing excess cash as well as the proceeds from the sale of Provida's minority ... stakes in other businesses in Mexico and Peru, which are not being acquired by MetLife. The deal is subject to receipt of certain regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. The deal got an approval from Board of Directors of Metlife. BBVA has agreed to transfer its 64.3% stake in Provida to Metlife. The transaction, which is anticipated to close in the third quarter of 2013, is expected to provide operating earnings accretion of approximately $0.05 per share in 2013 and $0.15 per share in 2014.
